AMCO takes scraper system to the next level

F17 large scraper system

The new scraper system for AMCO’s large-frame models features more durable 2½″ x 2½″ square tubing and heavier-duty mounting brackets.

AMCO Manufacturing has made another upgrade to its standard equipment as part of its ongoing efforts to give customers more value and performance for their money. The scraper system included on AMCO’s larger-frame disc harrows, offset harrows, and levee and terracing plows is now constructed from ultra-durable 2½″ x 2½″ square tubing rather than angle iron. Heavy-duty mounting brackets are now also standard.

“The new square tubing makes our large-frame scraper system more than twice as strong as the design we use for our smaller-frame models,” said Luke Andries, AMCO marketing manager. “We are pleased to be able to bring this significant upgrade to our customers without a cost increase.

F17-scraper-tubing“The new scrapers will hold up better in high residue and wet conditions, and will just overall have a longer lifespan,” said Andries.

The large-frame scraper system now also features 2½″ x ½″ thick arms that can bear more weight due to a new vertical rather than offset design. The scrapers are attached to the arm with heavy-duty u-bolts. “We considered a lot of factors when designing the best scraper system for our larger models, like the weight the axle bears and the number of blades per gang,” said Andries.

F17 large scraper systemBlades on the scraper are made from high-carbon steel, measure 3/16″ x 6½″ x 8″, and are adjustable and replaceable. Models using the new scraper system include the F15, F15B, C15, F17, F41, F42, J41, J42, J43, G2, LF6, MLJ6, MLF6, and TJ3. The J44 already featured the larger-frame scraper system.

All AMCO products will still ship with the scraper blades attached so no adjustment is needed until after a bearing adjustment is made. AMCO recommends users maintain a ¼″ spacing between the blade and the scraper so that dirt can flow through without putting too much pressure on the blade.

AMCO enhances equipment durability with new powder-coat finish

Powder-coating-web

AMCO equipment parts pass through the curing oven after being powder coated. They then cool off, ready for assembly.

It’s no secret that farm equipment is exposed to some rugged conditions: repeated heavy-duty use, impacts, moisture, chemicals, ultraviolet light and extreme weather conditions can all take their toll on equipment. Because of this, it’s crucial for farmers to invest in equipment that will last.

AMCO’s new powder-coat finishing system will ensure just that. The benefits of powder coating include:

  • More than twice as durable as a wet-paint finish and better coverage
  • More scratch resistant
  • Resistant to fading
  • Lowers waste, because unused or oversprayed powder that doesn’t adhere to the equipment can be retrieved and reused
  • Once the equipment leaves the oven and cools, it is completely cured.

“With our new powder-coating system, we’re able to offer even better value to our customers,” said Marketing Manager Luke Andries. “Not only is the finish more durable, it will help maintain the value of the machine much longer.”

The upgrade to the painting system is just the latest step in AMCO’s plan to revitalize its manufacturing setup. “AMCO is very focused on using state-of-the-art equipment so that we are continually able to offer new and innovative products and features,” said Andries. “Customers can look forward to even more improvements to many of AMCO’s leading models in the coming months.”

From road beds to construction sites, AMCO’s offset discs are breaking new ground

Across the U.S.A., construction season is in full swing. As construction companies and land-clearing contractors prepare to clear ground for job sites and break up road beds, many will be looking to purchase new construction equipment or upgrade existing equipment.

“AMCO has developed offset harrows to suit a range of construction needs, from lighter weight options to real heavy-hitters,” said AMCO Marketing Manager Luke Andries. “We’ve gained a reputation in the construction industry as manufacturers of rugged, durable construction harrows. Construction equipment is exposed to stressful conditions, including repeated heavy-duty use, impacts, moisture, sunlight and extreme weather conditions. We know that downtime on the job site is costly, so our harrows are made to last.”

All AMCO’s construction harrows clear land by cutting through trash and mixing, aerating and leveling the soil. After AMCO’s harrows are manufactured, they are given a powder-coat finish, which is more than twice as durable as a wet-paint finish, offers better coverage and holds up under rugged conditions.

G2-blackaxles-sized

The G2 Wheel Offset Harrow is ideal for the toughest conditions, such as breaking up new ground.

For the toughest conditions—for example, heavily wooded site preparation by a parks and recreation department that requires cutting through underbrush—the G2 Wheel Offset Harrow is the ideal tool. It is also fully capable of working new ground, which has never been broken before.

The G2 is available with impressive 36″ x ½″ thick cutout blades and offers cutting widths up to over 20 feet wide. To handle the force the G2 applies per blade, AMCO and a local manufacturer designed an oversized hydraulic cylinder with special clevis that lifts the harrow into transport position on dual wheels. This cylinder adds durability to the massive G2 design.

“The G2 cuts into ground 18″, which gets to the roots and moves more dirt than other products,” added Andries. “Also, you can’t beat the scraper system on the G2. It has a welded scraper system with a curved moldboard, which keeps blades free from debris.”

The J42 Wheel Offset Harrow, while still a heavy-duty tool, is ideal for smaller, less demanding projects such as breaking up road beds.

AMCO’s J42, J43 and J44 Wheel Offset Harrows are construction discs that are available in small-frame and large-frame options. The J42 Wheel Offset Harrow, while still a heavy-duty tool, is ideal for smaller, less demanding projects such as breaking up road beds. Featuring high-carbon, cold-rolled 1½″ steel square axles, the standard unit comes with 24″ diameter x 1/4″ thick plain blades with diminishing leveling blades. The J42 features heat-treated spring steel scraper shanks, replaceable high-carbon steel scraper blades, and extra-heavy-duty scraper bars. Depending on the size of the unit, its outrigger frame measures 16’6″ through 20’6″, and it weighs 179 to 208 pounds per blade.

AMCO’s J42, J43 and J44 Wheel Offset Harrows are construction harrows that are available in small-frame and large-frame options and a range of cutting widths. The J42 Wheel Offset Harrow, while still a heavy-duty tool, is ideal for smaller, less demanding projects such as breaking up road beds. The J43 and J44 Wheel Offset Harrows have all the same features as the J42, with extra features that enable them to perform more heavy-duty work.

The J42, J43 and J44 can also be used in farming to cut and size residue, eliminate clumps, and loosen packed soil to help prepare the ideal seedbed.

AMCO Ditchers deliver with design improvements

Yazoo City, Miss. – Numerous upgrades on the tough, reliable Vertical (Standard) and Offset Rotary Ditchers

AMCO Ditchers now feature five reversible blades on the cutter heads for better ditch clearing. A second set of bolt holes on the cutter heads means users get four life cycles out of their reversible blades.

from AMCO Manufacturing, Inc., are cementing their positions as the best ditchers in the industry.

“Our goal is always to exceed our customers’ expectations, so we listened to their feedback on ways to improve our Ditchers’ performance,” said AMCO Marketing Manager Luke Andries. “To keep a competitive edge, continuous improvement is a must, and it’s what our customers deserve.”

Across the lineup, all AMCO Ditchers now feature five reversible cutting blades on the cutter heads for better ditch clearing. With the addition of the fifth cutting blade, customers will see a noticeable improvement in the finish of the ditch. Made of high-carbon steel, the heat-treated blades rotate at 740 RPM.

Because the cutting blades are reversible, users can maximize their investment before purchasing a replacement set. Specifically, the reversible cutting blades allow them to be turned over for a second life cycle and then relocated to a second set of bolt holes on the cutter heads, bringing the blade life-cycle total to four. Both the 18″ model and the 26″ diameter cutter heads feature this second setting, which also means the cutter head width is adjustable from 18″ to 20″ or from 26″ to 24″. Both Ditcher body styles can be ordered with either diameter cutter head.

Securing the PTO drive shaft for storage is now easy with the addition of a PTO drive shaft parking hook on the side of the unit.

AMCO didn’t stop improving its Ditchers at the cutter head. The PTO drive shaft has been beefed up for even better durability and the shield clearance has been tightened, making it harder for debris to get stuck and contributing to safer operation. Convenience was also considered, and securing the PTO drive shaft for storage is now an easier task with the addition of a PTO drive shaft parking hook on the side of the unit. “This is a quick and easy way to store the PTO drive shaft,” explained Andries.

In response to customer preference, AMCO is now using a concave skid shoe design on all ditcher models. “The concave skid shoe design with the quick-adjust ratchet is a big improvement. It allows the Ditcher to track better and form a more uniform ditch, and it just made sense to make this our standard offering,” said Andries. Skid shoe adjustment can now be easily achieved with an adjustment ratchet, another new feature that has been added to all Ditcher models. To help prevent mud and debris buildup around the cutter head, the skid shoe mount is now located behind the Ditcher gear case.

Rounding out the list of the Ditchers’ upgrades is a state-of-the-art powder-coat finish. “AMCO invested in powder-coat technology to provide an improved product finish,” said Andries. More than twice as durable as and more environmentally friendly than a wet-paint finish, powder coating offers prolonged surface protection and long-lived product finish.

Numerous other features are offered in the AMCO Vertical (Standard) and Offset Rotary Ditchers:

  • Driving the cutter head is a dual, heavy-duty, endless double #80 roller chain with 1″ pitch that runs continuously in a sealed oil bath.
  • Each chain drive is equipped with an adjustable idler sprocket with case-hardened teeth.
  • An all-welded main frame has chain-case construction of 6″ x 10″ x ¼″ tubing.
  • The 3-point hitch A-frame fits category II and III with quick-hitch compatibility.
  • AMCO’s standard, removable buster shank to rip through tough dirt, allowing penetration to the desired depth and clean passage for the cutter head.
